One of the most urgent requirements has been to produce an Urban Design Framework for Stratford, to this end consultants Urban Practitioners was engaged by Stratford-on-Avon District Council to prepare a draft document for public consultation.

After lengthy consultation with stakeholders and the public a draft Urban Design Framework was published (in collaboration with architects Allies and Morrison), for further stakeholder and public consultation at the end of November 2006. Once that next stage of consultation was completed on 2 February, work began to use the collected views to create the final Urban Design Framework which willl be published in Summer 2007.

However, ahead of this, progress with projects identified in the Waterfront Masterplan – which has now become the first £5 million phase of World Class Stratford – is already well advanced.

In Summer 2007, a survey was conducted to record Stratford Town Centre businesses' commercial health and attitudes This will act as one of the benchmarks against which the impact of this phase of works on the local economy will be assessed.
